My project was a chance to reflect on myself as an artist, how to combine various ideas into one space of exploration, how to challenge myself, to test my limits. I first made a sketch of how things could combine, and then it became an event of three stages. The themes guiding the process are our awareness of a crisis, trying to deal with the emotions that come from this state of crisis which binds us, how do we find a way to believe in ourselves - our origin - and to see how we can live with these differences, as a positive thing.

All the parameters of the project based on personalities and inspired by words of Jiddu Krishnamurti. There was a purity in his speech, also powerful and passionate, short sentences that go to the point about these issues, every sentence of his speech was a task...

Stage 1
The text that influenced the first part of my project was about human crisis, gave me the impression of a contrast,  a relationship between black and white. I decided to use the color white in the performing space in order to allude to the general idea of whiteness, which for me symbolises the power of neutrality, something virgin, the complete energy of light, the cold quality that represents purity. The black color was used on the performer to denote a certain faceless-ness, a social homogeneity, a routine, a lack of personality. To highlight these feelings i decided to hide the most characteristic feature of a person’s face, the eyes.

I decided to do a shift in the choreography, which took me a step further from the text. This had an effect on the dramaturgy: the performer believes in himself again and he regains his sight.

In order for these conditions to manifest, I used the filming way (I created a three-minute dance-film that was projected at the beginning of the performance).

This part was inspired by a text about the psychological and emotional bond between people around the world, despite their culture, their society and where they live. I wanted to show the emotion of loneliness. I used spatiality to show this, by scattering the performers in space. Then I asked them to improvise based on their own personality. The performers used material from their own individual projects to symbolise their personality. This required that the performers had to return to their “origin” (emotional, psychological, methodological etc) in order to initiate their “personality journey”.

This appoach was for me the physical way (I used the whole group for this and the element of chance and spontaneity).

Stage 3
The text which influenced this part was about mankind being one and the inner strength we have of believing in ourselves. At the beginning the performers explored the idea of a “sound mark”, their own personal sound. This lead to the first rhythmical motive. Then three more motives followed. All these motives were based on a 7/8 body percussion choreography. After the last motive the performers reached a rhythmical climax, which took us to the finale. This last part was improvised by all: some performers went into contact improvisation and others improvised on their own.

This was for me the rhythmical way (the element of rhythm was what bound us together).

Everyone has his strategy, the sense of stuff, coming up and down and transforming continuously. Knowing your style is the first thing to know about how you perform. Once you understand which is your naturally dominant learning style and then you are in a position to improve the way you perform. The awarness of how we do what we do is the key to influence. The openness and the truth has purification vibrations and can be used to clear blocks from your path. Space, dynamics, emotional responses, improvisation that allows self - expression through the body - to know who and what i am - to use the language - to show the personality - to understand the process of creation in all of this - you challenge yourself.

''Behind your thoughts and feelings, my brother, there is a powerful master and an unknown guide and who is called: self. He lives in your body, he is your body.''  F.Nietzsche

Is it the sight?   Is it the body?   Is it the rhythm?
